What Are Zines?
A Zine (pronounced “ZEEN”) is short for “magazine” and is usually a small-batch of self-published works that are often motivated by a desire for self-expression and not-for-profit. Kind of like a magazine, but with a twist!
Typically Zines focus in on important subjects or topics, and artists create a visual representation based on their perspectives. The main difference between a magazine and a zine is that zines are not out there to make a profit but, rather, to add other, often unheard voices into the mix.
Zines aren't just for kids! This is often the assumption, but most Zines are actually made by adults! It is known to be a great medium to release inner thoughts and feelings because in the Zine community, you are certainly not alone.
