Joy of Reading Celebration


We've Gone Virtual!
The Joy of Reading Celebration was inspired by the Forest of Reading; Canada's largest literacy event for young readers.
Karen Upper, Itinerant Librarian for the Near North District School Board, recognized the need for this type of celebration in the Almaguin Highlands.
Since then, we have hosted two events in 2019 (in-person) and 2021 (virtual) in partnership with the Libraries of Almaguin Highlands and plan to host annual celebrations around the region!

Turning a Vision into Reality
Ms. Upper has always encouraged a passion for reading in her young patrons, but she knew there was more to be done! When she shared her vision for a celebration of reading with six Librarians in the Almaguin Highlands, the Joy of Reading Celebration was born!
